With only three provinces
left, Overijssel cannot be forgotten. This province in the east of Holland can
be a perfect getaway for the people who are looking for a nice, calm day, but
also for the people who love a little bit more action.
If you are looking
for a more quiet getaway, there are many recreation parks in Overijssel where
you can spend your day, by taking a walk in one of the forests and enjoying the
beautiful nature. Moreover, there are also a lot of camping’s in Overijssel
where you can stay during your trip. In this way, you can enjoy Overijssel a
couple of days. On the site of Eurocamp, you can find all Dutch campings in
Holland. This English site also shows you a map on which you can find the camping
you need. This map will give a nice overview of the location of the camping and
the contact information.
Another thing you can
do in Overijssel, but also in some other provinces, is the typical Dutch game ‘boerengolf’.
You can play this game, translated as farmers golf in English, at some local
Farms with a large group of people. With ‘boerengolf’, you play golf, but with
a stick with a wooden shoe at the end and a little soccer ball. Also, the route
of this game will lead you straight through the meadows and along cows. You
will have a great time playing this hilarious game and you can also have some diner
afterwards. You will find some campings or farms that offer this game in the
next link and you can make an appointment by contacting them:
When you are with
your family, you can also visit amusement park Slagharen. Here they offer you
more than 40 attractions and a holiday park, so you can enjoy Slagharen more
than one day.
If you don’t have
much time, you can also visit Enschede, a city in Overijssel Here you can enjoy
the culture and the history of the city. On the 22th of April, you can also
take a look at the marathon of Enschede . This
is the oldest marathon in Holland en was first held in 1947.
Because it is almost
Easter, you can also visit some other locations. For example you can visit
Holten, where they are trying to makes the biggest Paasvuur (Easter Fire) of
the world. The current world record is 27,87 meter!
